In an effort to deliver a 慻reen?hybrid car with some pizzazz, Honda has announced the launch of its sporty CR-Z hybrid sports car. The hybrid was released in Japan at the beginning of March and is set to go on sale in the U.S. and Europe this summer. Honda Chief Executive Takanobu Ito hopes the sleek two-door hatchback hybrid will appeal to the younger, more environmentally friendly generation who still wants some power out of their car maxisys elite review.
The CR-Z is, in a way, a direct response to the design criticisms of the somewhat boxy Toyota Prius, Japan抯 best-selling car in 2009. The CR-Z, priced in Japan starting at $25,300, features a sleeker, roadster look, and is equipped with a 1.5 liter 4-cylinder i-VTEC engine and Integrated Motor Assist. International prices are yet to be announced.
The biggest difference between the CR-Z ?the 慍ompact Renaissance Zero??and other hybrids is that the CR-Z offers three drive modes: Sport, Normal, and Economy. Sport mode boosts the car抯 performance, while Economy mode enhances its fuel economy. Under initial Japanese tests, the car averaged almost 59 miles per gallon.
Ito refused to comment on the recent recalls both Toyota and Honda have faced in his February 25, 2010 news conference launch x431 v+, stating, 損roduct quality is extremely important to us." He also touched upon the relative troubles faced by automakers as they try to expand abroad. With more customers, he implied, comes more criticism, a somewhat natural progression in business. He also pointed out that Honda抯 braking system uses a different technology than Toyota抯, the main cause for their recalling nearly 440,000 Priuses and other hybrid models.
